media diary: grace r

media diary day 1:

First let me just say that this has been a journey of self discovery, as i have ultimately discover what a boring life i lead:

  • This morning i listened to the radio in the car on the way to the station, for approximately 10 minutes. To be specific i listened to Chris moyles, unfortunately it wasn't very exciting, but i was outnumbered by other supporters within my family.
  • whilst standing on the platform at the station, whilst waiting for the train i happened to glance at many advertising billboards, scattered along the platform.
  • Once home i used the computer for about 3 hours, switching between: myspace, facebook, google and MSN. Mostly google though, as i was "supposed" to be doing homework, but being lured away by the draws of facebook and instant messaging. however, within facebook itself there is more advertising surrounding the webpage.
  • i then watched TV for n hour: Amazon with Bruce Parry. i highly recommend it, very cultural, if you like that kind of thing. the good, and unusual, thing about Parry's shows is that there are no breaks!

and that sums up my day, and the media it involved. exciting i know.

Hi Grace. A few questions:
1) have you noticed that Bruce Parry's show is on the BBC? As this is a public service broadcaster, that receives its funding from the Licence Fee, rather than advertising, this might explain why there are no breaks in the show.
2) Can you remember any of the billboard adverts that you saw? If so, which ones are they and why do you think they are the ones you have remembered?
